Returning to Kira’s Cyberpunk World
There’s something special about returning to a story that never really left your heart.
When I first wrote Neon Shadows, I was stepping into unfamiliar territory. Cyberpunk wasn’t my comfort zone—it was neon-lit alleyways, corrupted systems, dangerous secrets, and characters sharp enough to cut you if you got too close. But sometimes the stories that challenge us the most become the ones that stay with us the longest.
After spending time immersed in the world of Stitched: Blood & Stardust, I found myself thinking about Kira again. About the Nexus. About the shadows hiding beneath all those glowing city lights. And I realized this little story deserved more love.
So I decided to give Neon Shadows a glow up.
And honestly? The artists absolutely delivered.

Albert Wijaya took every chaotic little vision in my head and transformed it into something stunning. Kira finally looks exactly the way she feels in my mind—dangerous, beautiful, untouchable, carrying both strength and sorrow behind her eyes. Seeing her brought to life on the cover was surreal in the best way possible.
Then Atra Luna came in and elevated everything with the title design. The gritty styling, the Neo-Tokyo aesthetic, the atmosphere—it was the final piece that tied the entire vision together perfectly. Like the last flicker of light across a rain-soaked skyline.
Shx Ionn brought the couple vividly to life, while Albert put the perfect finishing touch on the project by creating a stunning comic page that helped the story leap right off the page.
This story means a lot to me for another reason too.
Neon Shadows was the first time I truly pushed myself creatively within the cyberpunk genre, and I owe that leap to one very persistent and beloved reader. Renee, thank you for encouraging me to step outside my comfort zone and trust myself enough to write this story. You helped spark something special.
For those who haven’t met Kira yet…
She’s a hacker. A survivor. A rare Kitsune trying to outrun a past she thought she escaped long ago. But when a news report exposes the kidnapping of a powerful heiress tied to horrifying biological experiments, the fragile peace Kira built for herself begins to crack.
Desperate for answers, she descends into the Nexus—the dark underworld pulsing beneath the city’s neon veins—to seek help from the enigmatic Ryuu. But the deeper Kira digs, the more dangerous the truth becomes. The heiress is not who she appears to be, and Ryuu’s connection to Kira’s past may be far darker—and far more intimate—than she ever imagined.
In a world built on deception, trust becomes deadly.
And love?
Love might be the most dangerous thing of all.
If you love cyberpunk worlds filled with betrayal, tension, dangerous attraction, and morally gray characters wrapped in neon and bloodstained secrets, I hope you’ll give Neon Shadows a chance.
This little story still owns a piece of my heart.
And now it finally looks the way it deserves to.
