Author's Insider Note
When I first came across this cover, something in me went still. I didn’t know the story yet—only that I needed it close, needed to understand why it felt like it was already mine. Circumstances gave me the chance to bring it to life, but inspiration hadn’t caught up… not yet.
So I did what I always do when the idea is just out of reach—I went to Miranda. She’s the kind of mind that holds entire worlds under pressure, waiting for the smallest crack. I asked her a simple question: What does this cover say to you?
She answered without hesitation. Just a few words, barely formed—but they struck.
The idea took root quietly. It grew the way certain things only can in the dark—slow, unseen, inevitable. Something you might glimpse for a moment if you were lucky, radiant and dangerous, before it folded back in on itself.
That’s how this story was born. From embers, to obsession, to a wildfire I couldn’t control. A story that slipped beyond my hands and became something far greater—and far stranger—than I ever expected.
Blurb
Astraea, a fallen star in human form, is captured by the Intergalactic Coalition and handed over to Project Saturn’s researchers. Her power—an enigma—draws Dr. Kanzex Scil deeper into obsession. Each cryptic word she speaks feeds his delusions, blurring the line between science and destiny, until he believes she was meant for him alone.
Far beyond the reach of time, an ancient god—Eryxxus—stirs in the prison of a black hole, his mind unraveling after eons of madness. But Astraea’s song, soft and haunting, cuts through the void and awakens him. Compelled by an unseen force, he breaks free, claiming her as his—before ever setting eyes on her.
Assuming the guise of a crew member, Eryxxus boards the ship, weaving death and discord through its halls. The crew is unaware of the darkness closing in, as the lines between obsession and possession blur. The doctor, the god, and the star are caught in a deadly dance, each pulled by an invisible thread, each desperate to claim what they believe is theirs. But in the vast emptiness of space, is the truth ever truly what it seems?
